Kickin' up dust

This is one of my sons, scuffin’ dirt and being a boy.

I used an effect called “fabric” on this photo and on the last one of my other son. As far as photo editing, I most often use a program called Photo Explosion. I’ve tried basic Photoshop, and various other programs, but I always come back to Photo Explosion, which my lovely daughter gave me one Christmas. As a photojounalist, I don’t generally post process at all for magazine and newspaper assignments. If I do, it is only with a gentle touch on lighting or color balance – never to remove something from the photo or to add special effects. (Photojournalists are journaling the real world, as it happens). For wedding shots, portraits, family photos, or for this blog, I play around more with post processing. Photo Explosion does all the stuff I need it to, and most of the stuff I want it to.
