This is Doc, one of my brother’s horses. He’s ancient and sweet. (The horse, not my brother. Ha!).

This photo is fine, but nothing to write home about. I just posted it for my good friend Paty (www.patyjager.net) who was disappointed when this morning’s post – Frosty Horse Tails – wasn’t actually a photo of a horse’s frosty tail. I took this shot about two weeks ago at my brother’s farm outside Lebanon, Oregon.

My three year old – the one who saw elephants in my Bucolic Scene post yesterday – saw this photo and said, “That horse has a fire inside him.”

Believe me when I tell you, Doc has no fire inside. He’s well into his 20s and about as mellow as they come. He might have a warm glow inside him, but no fire. I think My son was referring to the spotlight lens special effect I applied to this photo with Photo Explosion. I’m particularly fond of that effect.

Good Doc. Good boy.

  1. Haha! Thanks! My website is patyjager.net. I really have to get that .com back.

  2. This horse is probably my style! Slow!

I used to love horses till my grandpa loaned me a horse: She was in foal, had a choke bit, and blinders, and as you can imagine totally took my love of horses out of me! (At least the riding part.) I’ll write about that tale some day.

    • I never outgrew my love of horses. Got my first stubborn Shetland pony at age 10. I was in the sheriff’s mounted posse for over six years – wilderness search and rescue on horseback among other duties. I still have my posse horse. She’s my buddy.
