And this is our lab, Maggie now. Well, two weeks ago.

I like to use reflections in photos when possible. It gives a new dimension to photographs. Sometimes with positive and surprising results.

I worked this situation, with dog and water for a while to get what I was after. Maggie is a typical water-loving, high-energy lab. She ran through the pond, bit at the water and picked up a stick in her mouth to entertain herself. I got a few decent shots and many blurry ones. This is my favorite. It looks as if Maggie is checking her appearance in the reflection.

“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest dog of all?”

Ha!

  1. It’s never as easy as it looks, is it? I’m so glad you included those words. It’s a wonderful photo and great in black and white. I wish I had water around me to play with reflections in photography. What fun that is. Great image!

  2. Thanks, Katie. Lots of other ways to use reflections – mirrors, chrome bumpers, windows. It’s fun to experiment with it.
