Being the wet state that it is, Oregon has many wild varieties of lichen and moss. Both are at their most beautiful in the autumn, after fall rains begin. This one appears to be sending out spores. I took this macro shot in the woods on our property a couple of weeks ago.

I found this lichen in a corner of our property, growing on an old section of wooden fencing. Call me crazy, but I think it’s beautiful.

This moss-capped fence post is part of the fence which holds in a herd of long horns in our neighborhood. I’ll share photos of the cattle in an upcoming blog post.

Never stop looking for beauty. It’s all around.
