Yesterday morning, and for a good part of the day, a thick coat of frost covered the ground and the plants.

We call this plant dock. It’s a noxious weed, but I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for this plant anyway.

When I was little, my mom told me about how she used to harvest the brown seeds of dock as a child. With a swipe of her hand up the stems she’d have a handful of brown seeds. She’d keep the seeds in a container and pretend it was coffee while playing house.

My mom passed away more than five years ago. Anything that brings fond memories of her is all right in my book.

Enjoy! From my mom to you – frozen coffee.

But please, only pretend to brew it and drink it!
