Does this look like it could be a scene on a distant planet, or is it just me?

This lone mushroom was growing in our back 40 on a worm-eaten log. I took the photo two days ago when my sons and I went for a hike around our pond.

I’m fond of this shot. I like the delicate look of this mushroom. I like the lighting. I like the texture.

The thing that would make me truly love the shot is if a little snail happened to be gliding across the top of the mushroom with the light shining through it and I had captured that moment.

We always wish for more than we got, don’t we? Even if that wish is for tiny escargo… ; )
