Landing Gear Down...

This Canada goose flew almost directly over my head the other morning when I’d taken my camera out for a walk around a local lake.

The overhead flight was unexpected and my camera settings were still adjusted for some macro shots I’d taken earlier, before the sun had grown so bright. I was shooting into the sun, which made for a very overexposed, but I think rather interesting shot.

Sometimes accidents make the most fun images, don’t you agree?

I like how the water lines in the upper right hand corner help balance out the bird. I also like the softness of the shot, the ghost-like feeling and the motion blur of the wings.

The only thing I did in post processing was warm the color up a bit. I may still play with it a little more, but I was anxious to share. Ideas of other things to try with this photo are welcome.

I’ve been experimenting quite a bit with shooting into the light. It’s been interesting and enlightening. Excuse the pun.
