…is worth two in the pond.

I took this photo on assignment a couple years ago when covering the Jefferson Mint Festival and Frog Jump.

The frog is a baby bullfrog. The girl holding the frog entered it in the jumping contest – I took this shot before the contest began. The girl was completely smitten with her little frog and was very gentle with it.

I’d like to say that the little frog jumped farther than all the others, but I can’t. Let’s just say the little croaker hopped with heart.

Besides the story behind this shot, I like the photo for other reasons – the brown and white of the friends’ hands together especially, but also the focus on the frog’s eye.

I sold first rights to this photo and it ran in the Jefferson Review, an Oregon community newspaper.
