I’d like to thank my Facebook and blogger family, friends and acquaintances for their support, encouragement and kind words. I started this photography blog and my miracles blog (www.miracahills.wordpress.com) in October. Combined, I’ve had close to 6,000 hits from people all over the world and currently have over 100 followers. Each of the blogs has won an award.

I’ve gotten really excited again about creative photography, and the blogs give me a good reason to go out and look for interesting shots. Over the past few months, I’ve watched my photography improve. I’ve joined a camera club, started taking a college photo software class and added a new camera to my arsenal. So thank you, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

As for today’s photo – I took this shot the other morning on the way home from dropping kids at school. It was frosty and I liked the way the sun was creating shade around the moguls and a halo of light around the horse. I also like it that the horse’s steamy breath shows in the cold morning air.

I’ve been experimenting with shooting into the light and lens flare, and like the effect it added to this image.

I took this shot in color, but it seemed to lend itself well to black and white.

  1. Danita, not to inject a note of gloom or anything, but my immediate perception of this shot is a bunch of horse graves! I think its because we had quite a few horses buried in our field over the years that I was growing up – ones that were too dear to someone to send off to the knackers. Nice shot. And, your blog is great, I am really enjoying it. And your visits to mine which are so nice and positive, and don’t find death and gloom in my shots 🙂

  2. Horse graves… hmmm. That hadn’t entered my mind because I know that this field – along with being home to one horse and three llamas – is a motorcross course for dirt bikes. Knackers is an interesting word. Here, we’d say glue factory or slaughter house. I entered this shot in one of my camera club’s monthly competitions. It will be interesting to see if anyone else has the same reaction as you. And no worries, doom and gloom away. I like to hear people’s gut reactions to my photos, whether negative or positive.
