We have six alpacas. This one is Georgia. Although she probably has the poorest quality fiber of any of them, she’s got a huge personality and she’s one of my favorites.

My family is new to alpaca ranching. It’s a little like being a zookeeper to critters that look like they stepped out of a Dr. Seuss book.

I took many photos of the alpacas last fall when we first got them. It was a hot September in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, with lots of flies. It was hard to get photos of the alpacas without flies on their faces.

This shot cracked me up though. It’s as if Georgia is intently watching the fly. I played with the shot in post processing to make the fly really pop.
