This is Maggie May, our nearly three-year-old yellow lab. Labs have some of the most expressive eyes in the dog world.

This was taken with my new Sigma 85mm F1.4 lens. I wanted to have a very narrow depth of field – just her eyes in sharp focus. It worked. This photo could be better in many other ways, such as lighting and color. But it did a nice job of capturing Maggie’s sweet but intense personality.
