These are two llamas in my neighborhood.

I took this several years back, when I first got my Canon Rebel Xti. My family had gone for a walk along the country roads. Ray’s llamas were very interested in the stroller my husband was pushing with our youngest child inside.

Rick went ahead with the stroller. I hung back and got this photo as the llamas were watching the strange creature on wheels move away.

I like how the darker llama really does look like the lighter animal’s shadow. I also like the piece of hay on the one llama’s head – it adds a certain humorous, rural touch, don’t you think?

I entered this photograph in the Linn County Fair that same summer. If I’m remembering right, it won a second place ribbon in the animal category in open class. Not bad for a black and white. Also not bad for one of the first frames to come out of that camera.
