This is my daughter and my eldest son. And Felix the sheep.

My daughter raises bucking bull (rodeo) stock. She also used to ride bucking bulls. So, she figured her little brother needed to rodeo too, thinking he could start out riding a sheep in an event they call “Mutton Bustin’.'”

In this American rodeo event, little kids are each set atop a sheep and the sheep are turned loose in the dirt arena. The last child to keep hold of their sheep is the winner.

My son didn’t ever make it to a rodeo arena to take part in this event. One ride on his big sissy’s sheep was enough for him.

It’s not like Felix the sheep gave him a wild ride or anything. Felix was my daughter’s retired FFA project. She even taught Felix Parelli Natural Horsemanship. He was one of the most obedient sheep I’ve ever met.

But some are born to rodeo. And some are not. Apparently that goes for both sheep and kids.
