If you’re an animal lover like me, you can relate to bonding with at least one creature at any given place where animals congregate, be it farm, zoo, Humane Society or in this case, the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon.

This camel was the animal I bonded with when my family visited last month.

We were in our car, driving through the park like the thousand of others who visit each year. This camel was meandering around, minding her own business. But there was just something about her that spoke to me. Had a park ranger asked if I’d like to take her home that day, I’d have gladly accepted.

Could be I fell in love with this camel because camels are a cousin to the alpaca and I have a herd of six of those. Or it could be those liquid brown eyes that made eye contact with me several times. Or it could be that this camel was pregnant and not far from her due date judging from the way the baby was visibly rolling and kicking inside her.

Anyway, this camel’s aura stayed with me long after our trip to the park. Just a couple weeks ago, I dreamed that I bid on – and won – a baby camel at an auction. Ha!
