This was some sort of Hawaiian goose. I photographed it at the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon last month.
The goose had a bad attitude. Maybe it was upset about its lunch being interrupted. (What is that hanging out of its mouth anyway? Looks like seaweed). Or maybe the Hawaiian goose was simply ticked about Oregon’s rainy weather. If that was the case, I can totally relate. Either way, the goose tried to bite anyone who came near its pen.
It got ahold of one of my pants legs through its enclosure. It didn’t get my skin and so it didn’t hurt or bother me, but my youngest son was very upset. He thought the goose had injured his mama.

Barbara wrote on my Facebook link:: “Thank goodness for pants! They do more than keep us warm.”
: ) Isn’t it true?
Starla wrote on my Facebook link:: “How sweet your boy worried about you! Lot of tales out there about being chased and “goosed”..my husband used karate on one and it was very puzzeled as it had never been on the recieving end before!”
Haha! Starla. I can just picture Brian giving a karate chop to a mean goose and it’s look of bewilderment.
