Red Cow in the Middle

When I’m taking photographs, one of the things I look for is contrast.

Contrast in light and dark – for an example click here.

Contrast in sharp focus and blur – click here for that.

In this shot color contrast is king. The red cow was already positioned in the middle of the herd, which suggested how to frame this shot to emphasize her. I think I’ll try a black and white version of this shot next. It should still show lots of contrast with this red cow’s white face.

This herd of cattle is owned by my friends Paty and Gerrit Jager. My sons and I went to their Central Oregon ranch for a visit a couple of weeks ago.
