Another white-crowned sparrow. (Click the back arrow to see a similar sparrow in yesterday’s post).

I took this photo in South Beach, Oregon when my family went there last week for an overnighter.

I was photographing wildflowers along the road – the variety of flowers and colors was amazing – and this bird and another like it began flitting through the bushes on the opposite side of the road.

I risked life and limb and stood in the middle of the road to take this shot. Okay, I have to be honest here – there wasn’t really much risk involved. The road wasn’t busy. I had to move for only one passing vehicle. The risky life and limb deal just made a better story.

Birds are a real challenge to photograph. They move so quickly. My only advice is to keep trying.

  1. Miss Danita Cahill – you are such a treasure. I can be in the most despondent of moods, and run across one of your posts, and my whole outlook will change. You have such a way of subtle humor of such a kind and basic sort, that it touches my heart, and I’m sure many others too. Thank you dear girl for all the beautiful photog work you do and share with us, but moreso, the kindness and love in your heart. You must be truly beautiful in all respects. Sending love and happiness for your weekend, Cissy in Texas

    • Cissy, your kind comment brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, thank you. I’m always so happy to hear that my blogs touch people in a positive way – after all, what are we put on earth for, if not to help one another?

  2. Jenny, a college student, wrote on my Facebook link: “Now that it’s summer & I have a bit of free time I’m gonna practice my photography hobby. My poor camera hasn’t been out of the bag in months!”

I told her to go for it, and maybe enter some photos in the upcoming county fair, too.
