My son was happy to oblige when I asked him to peek through the chain attached to an old steam locomotive in Corvallis, Oregon.

Today I’m starting a series on incorporate figures in your photographs – should you or shouldn’t you?

If you push the back button, you’ll see today’s earlier post – a chain standing alone.

If you wanted to use a chain as an illustration for an advertisement say, or as a book cover, you might choose to use a photo of a chain by itself. As a photo worthy of sending to Grandma, the boy hamming it up and peering through one of the big chain links would definitely be the winner.
