I took this photo late last month on the day a writer friend, Paty Jager visited us. She and I and my sons had a fun day. After lunch, we walked along Cheadle Lake in Lebanon, Oregon. The dragonflies were thick. I took many photos of them. This is one of my favorites.

I like the variety of colors in the background, and how the wing spots and the hairs on the insect’s legs show up so clearly.

It was kind of this flying dragon to pose long enough for me to take his portrait. Don’t you agree?

  1. Barbara wrote on my Facebook link: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like this before.”

I wrote: “Isn’t it cool, Barbara? Some had spotted wings. Some had stripes. Some single wings and some double.”

  2. Great photo! And a fun day!
