Focal Length:300mm
Shutter:1/1600 sec

A turkey vulture warming his wings on a post.

I took this shot one morning earlier this month at Cheadle Lake in Lebanon, Oregon.

I’ve read that turkey vultures get a lot of their energy from the sun, so they spread their wings to soak up the rays before taking off for a day of soaring and scenting on the breeze for their next (dead) meal.
